10 Questions with Gearóid Farrelly

Get to know Gearóid Farrelly a little better ahead of Cherry Comedy's return to Whelan's on November 1st!

If you come down to Whelan’s on November 1st, you’ll say the ticket price was a bargain and that’ll be for Gearóid alone, one of the best acts in the country Gearóid has been entertaining audiences for over a decade and we’re delighted to have him headlining our first show back at Whelan’s in over 19 months. A regular tour support in the UK for Sarah Millican, he’s also supported huge international names like Patton Oswalt and the legendary Joan Rivers – amongst many others. He hosts the podcast Fascinated on the HeadStuff Network – and has just launched a brand new podcast with singer Niamh Kavanagh called Agony Rants. I always love watching Niamh Marron. She’s amazing.

It has a Tesco and a church.

5. Who would play you in a film?

Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory.

6. Favourite biscuit?

Butter biscuits from Lidl.

7. Karaoke song?

I think the last song I did in karaoke was “Like A Prayer” by Madonna.

8. Spirit animal?

Dorothy from The Golden Girls.

9. Hangover cure?

Two paracetamol before I go to bed.

10. You have to change your name, what do you change it to?

When I was a kid I went through a phase of thinking Gearóid was too complicated and I felt I’d blend in a bit more if I was called Kevin.
