Get to know Martin Angolo a little better ahead of his return Cherry Comedy's on February 21st!
One of the true rising stars of Irish comedy, Martin Angolo has been a Cherry favourite from Day 1 (he featured on our first ever upstairs show at Whelan’s way back when) and having made his stand-up television debut last year on Sky Max’s The Deirdre O’Kane Show, if you haven’t heard of him yet, you soon will. A regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and supporting act for David O’Doherty, Dmitri Martin, Jamali Maddix to name a few, we can’t wait to see what the future brings. Martin joins a top bill on February 21st. You can purchase tickets at this link. Take a look at his ’10 questions’ below.
1. One liner?
I put together a hip hop playlist with only skinny rappers on it. No Biggie.
2. Guilty Pleasure?
Throwing stones at pigeons.
3. A comedian you enjoy watching?
Myself or Ger Staunton.
4. Tell us something about your hometown?
Not many people know that the Canadians tried to invade it in 1929.
5. Who would play you in a film?
Robert Sheehan, it'd be very culturally insensitive but I'm sure he could pull it off.
6. Favourite biscuit?
We're all going to die some day so why focus on biscuits... I do enjoy an occasional chocolate finger though.
7. Karaoke song?
The 7 minute version of How Soon Is Now by the Smiths because I have time to get another pint during the instrumental part.
8. Spirit animal?
The humble pigeon, which is why I hate them so much.
9. Hangover cure?
Never stop being drunk.
10. You have to change your name, what do you change it to?
Joanne McNally, it'd really help the career.
